Marshside Road Methodist Church

Mission

Marshside Road Methodist Church continues to perform Outreach in the following ways :-

  • In the local community, supporting :-
    • Light for Life
    • Southport Soup Kitchen
    • SWACA (Sefton Women's and Children's Aid)
    • Home-Start Southport and Formby
    • Action for Children.
  • Overseas via :-
    • the Methodist Fund for World Mission, which includes JMA (Junior Mission for All) and MWiB (Methodist Women in Britain)
    • The Methodist Relief and Development Fund, during 'One World Week' collections and projects eg.Water and Sanitation in Uganda and Hope for Life in Togo
    • Christian Aid (via envelope collections during Christian Aid Week) a collection that is dependent on willing volunteers
    • Action for Children with Collecting Boxes and the Christmas Day collection.

    In addition Mission at Marshside :-

    1. is aware of the work of the Bible Society
    2. is involved in Social Justice, supporting the Homeless and encouraging the use of Fairly Traded products.
    3. ensures that people feel loved by the Church, are welcomed, shown love, cared for and feel the presence of God
    4. raises funds for the various organisations/charities, through the following methods :-
      • Food boxes with household goods
      • Sponsored walks
      • Saving copper coins equivalent to 1p per meal or snack from Harvest to Christmas for World Mission
      • Having a collection box
      • Saving 5ps
      • Coffee mornings
      • Afternoon teas
      • Brunches
      • Quizzes
